Last Weekend...

...I finished the trailer with the help of WM. He finished my floor with Herkuliner (sp?) - a hard rubbery waterproofing that is used in truck beds. After that was set I loaded it up the next day with Rebel, Maggie, Charlie and the horse I'm working for a neighbor. That's because....

....I showed horses for the first time in years. Usually I just rodeo, but I entered Charlie in Horsemanship and Sorting and Maggie in Trails. We placed in all our classes. Not too bad for a roping horse and half-trained Mustang. I also had a good chance to work Maggie in an arena for the first time between shows. Don't mind the hat - it's not mine and was way huge, but it was required in order not to be DQ'd and I forgot one.

Also - some pics of JB's Smoked Chrome - my little colts daddy who is now deceased. Don't you just love that butt? He loved Rumba - she was such a good brood mare for him. I wish I could have gotten a few more foals out of him. My little guy is getting his knees done this weekend as well. Just too crooked on the right for my taste.

Just look at those checks on that stud!! DANG!! What a nice boy! Your colt is going to be a beast!! I hope his leg thingy goes well this weekend!! I am sure it will straighten out. I would have done the same thing as you.

And hooray for super helpful boyfriend!! Fantastic horse trailer mats!

Congrats on the wins! That is awesome! Is it still cold up there? It looks a bit chilly still!!

Do you know, I grew up in BFE, where FFA was a class you could take in high school, much of the graduating class went to MSU for some form of agriculture study, and there are more cows than people in my town....but I've never been on a horse!

My ex-step-sister-in-law....wierd I know, but everyone is still on super friendly terms, shows horses all the time, and now my nephew (who's 11 or 12) is really into it and actually a great rider already. Anytime I am home I could call up and ask for them to take me for a ride (well, non-preggo anyways) but I've never done it. Even JR, who grew up in metro D-town, has been on a horse a few times:)

Perhaps this should become one of my goals:)

Your horses are really beautiful. I haven't road a horse in years and not sure if I remember how. My Grandpa owns a farm and used to have horses...don't think so anymore. I was bucked off a mule once...lol

WOW, great pictures and congrats on the wins.. I am not that brave yet. My mustang still throws her head so much that i spend most of my time watching for the end of my nose to stay in place.

Looks like fun and love the new trailer floor. :)
